On September 19, 2017, the BC Safety Authority (BCSA) announced that it is adopting a new operating name and identity. From now on, BC Safety Authority will be known as “Technical Safety BC“. Along with a name change, Technical Safety BC also has a new logo.
Over the coming months, Technical Safety BC will be updating its website and forms to reflect its new identity.

On August 15, 2017, the British Columbia Safety Authority (BCSA) published the sixth revision to its Directive D-G5 051201 2 (Rev 6) entitled “Approved Certification Marks for Gas Appliances“.
This Directive clarifies the various certification marks for gas appliances which are acceptable for use in British Columbia.

On August 14, 2017, the British Columbia Safety Authority (BCSA) published Information Bulletin IB-GA 2017-04 entitled “Electrical Bonding Requirements for Gas Piping or Tubing Systems“.
This Directive clarifies the requirements for the bonding of gas systems as per the 2015 edition of the B149.1 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code.

On August 14, the BC Safety Authority issued a Bulletin to address clearance requirements for emergency shutdown systems on tank systems connected to direct-fired vapourizers. The amendments to the requirements ensure compliance in limited installations, such as at construction sites.

On June 23, 2017, the British Columbia Safety Authority (BCSA) published the first revision to its Directive D-GA 2017-01 (Rev 01) entitled “Recognized Certificates for Transfer of Propane”.
This Directive identifies which training courses related to the transfer of propane are recognized by BCSA for use in British Columbia. This amendment added Fuels Learning Centre’s ASME tank evacuation course (SO03). The Directive recognizes the following Fuels Learning Centre courses:

On February 25, 2017, the British Columbia Safety Authority (BCSA) issued the third revision to Information Bulletin B-G5 051206 4 (Rev. 03) entitled “Clearance to Regulator or Over Pressure Relief Device”.
